Greece report - a great time to visit!

Where did you visit and why?
I visited Kefalonia as I love the Greek Islands and it was an Island I had not been to before and I wanted to try somewhere new.

Was it busy? What was the atmosphere like?
There was a great atmosphere, it isn’t a hugely commercial Island so it was busy with couples and lots of families as the beaches are beautiful plus there are a great choice of restaurants and tavernas. There was also a lot of wedding parties, it is a very popular Island for weddings and it seems that lots of guests on the Island are repeat guests who have travelled to Kefalonia for many years or they will definitely be returning again.

What kind of welcome was there from the locals?
The locals offer a great welcome and are genuinely pleased that you have chosen to spend your holiday there, everybody in the local shops, hoteliers and restaurants are very friendly and happy to help.

Compared to last time you visited Greece did it seem cheaper locally?
I found that the prices were very reasonable, in fact a little cheaper than when I visited Skiathos last year.  Meals are in the local restaurants are very good value for money and the drinks are also great value.

Would you go back?
I would definitely go back, it is such a pretty, friendly island.  The beaches are great and the local cuisine is lovely.  It is a ideal Island to hire a car for a few days as there is lots to see and explore.  There are also lots of boat trips available so you can see the best of what Kefalonia has to offer.  The Sunsets are beautiful!

Why should holidaymakers go to Greece this summer?
The Greek Islands have so much to offer, whether it be for a family holiday or a quiet and relaxing break for couples, there really is something for everybody.  The local prices make it a good value for money too.

Where would you recommend?
It all depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for.  If it is quiet relaxing days on the beautiful beaches and a great atmosphere in the evening by a bustling harbour I would recommend Skiathos, if you are looking for quieter evenings soaking up the local Greek atmosphere such as Greek Dancing and enjoying the local cuisine then I would recommend Kefalonia.

Lisa has visited a number of Greek islands, in fact she got married on Skiathos last year.  To discuss your summer holiday to Greece call Lisa on 01543 258631 or email lisa@robertbroadtravel.co.uk.
