Nathan reports on his time in Santorini

Nathan recently travelled to the beautiful Greek island of Santorini, here he describes his experiences...

At the start of October I visited one of the lesser known Greek Islands, an island I had heard so much about and always wanted to visit: Santorini. I was immediately blown away by the beauty of this magical, mysterious volcanic island. The west coast offered some of the most stunning scenery I had seen anywhere in the world. For only a small island it offers so much to see and do, from beautiful hotels, fabulous restaurants, wine tasting, great walks or even take a donkey to climb the steps around the island's capital, Thira, not to mention boat trips around the unique caldera.

The season runs from May until the end of October, but I would suggest avoiding the extremely hot and busy months of July & August. The end of May throughout June would be a lovely early season time and then mid-September to mid-October are ideal for a late summer break.

I stayed at a fantastic all-suite, small, luxury hotel and can highly recommend it. The rooms, service and staff were fantastic and the views from the breakfast terrace and swimming pool were to die for. They will be refurbishing all of the rooms again over the winter, so everything will be nice and fresh for the start of the 2013 season.

We have negotiated some very special early booking offers, for 2013, for our clients as follows...

Departing 20th May, 2013 for 7 nights from £1129 per person.

Price includes:

New Year in Iceland...LAST FEW PLACES!

Celebrate New Year in real style peculiar to Icelanders that attracts visitors from around the world not least because unlimited fireworks can be had by anyone which Icelanders take maximum advantage of and garland the city with displays. Start the evening with our ‘Buffet on Ice’; blow out the Old Year on our bonfire tour; bring in the New with champagne and fireworks and then dance the night away. Choose between staying at the Plaza in the centre of town or in the spacious Grand Hotel where the New Year’s entertainment takes place.

Over the next few days you can snowmobile across a glacier, search for the Northern Lights or simply chill out in the Blue Lagoon. Reykjavik is an unlikely city to warrant the description “as hip and happening as it is possible to be”. The shops are stylish and according to A.A. Gill, the women are “the most beautiful in the world”. The locals have developed a legendary and prodigious reputation for being able to enjoy themselves. This ultra-modernity and party town atmosphere dramatically contrasts with the island interior with its geologically sculpted scenery; glacial ice fields, sand deserts, lava fields, volcanoes, waterfalls and geysers. All of which you can see either by horseback, Super Jeep, snowmobile or, for the fainthearted, from the comfort of a reclining coach seat.
